Dung beetles and worming products
Chemicals used in the treatment of livestock parasites, those found in many of our commercial parasite treatments have a negative effect on dung beetles and other dung fauna. There are several approaches to help deal with these parasites in a more ‘dung beetle friendly’ manner which we will discuss in more detail. If you can adopt one or more of these options, you will make a difference; it all helps!
Even by reducing the amount of these products is a big step forward. By reducing the volume used, dung beetle populations will increase as they are more able to reproduce and this will, in turn, reduce your parasite numbers which should mean less treatments...... an upward spiral!
